As far as ads and Spam, that just a part of MySpace and the price to pay for having a social networking site with very little rules or censorship. If your organization is trying to reach teens, absolutely! Same with labor organizations.

For example, the internal theme of our summer appeal was “How ASM Prepares Teens for Life After High School.” Over three weeks, we highlighted our college readiness program, then our career exploration program, and finally wrapped the appeal with an email about how our summer programs prepare teens for life’s next steps.

The groups had become a burden to manage and now with only one group remaining, I can commit myself to being a better group manager ( translation: deleting spam and spammers faster). Parents texting teens, a boss texting an employee, a husband texting a spouse I can see how theres value in just knowing a message was seen and it doesnt create any awkwardness. If youve ever received a spam text and opened it, for instance, the bad actor on the other end of the exchange knows that youre a person. It gets worse.

Urgent: Teens need your help to start college on time . Avoid the numbers 100 percent or #1 because they may trigger spam filters. Now , right now, and right away are great words that convey urgency without costing you a lot of characters. And don’t under-estimate the obvious: urgent. You can also use a deadline to create urgency.
