These are my powerpoint slides from the Screencasting Session at NTC. My favorite quote about the session was from Jason Zannon at Democracy in Action: Beth Kanter delivers herself of a tour de force on screencasting. I've heard that there will be more screencasting or at least one as this blogger notes. no more than 3.5
It was very liberating for me to create a screencast like this -- no storyboard, script, no retakes. I'm working on a screencast and it might be excellent way to do research or share implicit geek shoudlder-to-shoulder knowledge across the Internet. The content that I cover in the screencast, btw, is a quick peek at two Facebook apps.
Next week I'm doing a Webinar for Extension Professionals , a remix of 10 Steps to Association 2.0 which was a remix of Marnie Webb 's Ten Ways Nonprofits Can Change the World. My initial remix thought (wrong) was to look for examples that were related to agriculture, but the extension is so much more. I'm nervous. It's messy.

I decided to use the Ethan Zuckerman advice of point don't write -- and pointed to some excellent screencasts and videos about social bookmarking. I'm thinking about doing a remix though because there is redundancy and also because I just discovered a way to download youtube videos and convert them so I can remix.
On Tuesday, I facilitated an introductory workshop on how nonprofits can use social media in Boston at the nonprofit technology conference and yet another remix of the curriculum wiki , presentation , and game designed by David Wilcox. It took me a long time because I also made a series of screencasts using jing. I tested three video hosts - blip.tv (which doesn't have online editing yet), YouTube (And YouTube Remix), and Jumpcut. YouTube's Testube has a remix option that uses Adobe video editing. I should do that more often. That's not gonna work.

I am waiting for a couple of videos to be available on YouTube so I can play with the remixer on TestTube and finish the Cambodia Video Blogging Workshop materials and screencast. Seems like the "top bloggers lists" or "the best of XYZ blogs" lists are circulating.
The manuals are organized by "read," "write," and "remix" which I just love. The only person I recall doing video work on Open Source is James Davis who did this screencast with Ubuntu and wrote a post about it. I also found a manual for Kino , a video editing program that runs on Linux.
