The combination of Sony’s trademark 21:9 aspect ratio with a slightly smaller 6.1-inch Given Sony’s photography ambitions for the 5 II, I’ll allow it the physical shutter control, but the Google Assistant button feels unnecessary — especially in a position that’s too low to be convenient to press.
So if you’ll need to be working with Premiere Pro for video on the go, don’t buy this (at least until Adobe fixes that problem). A big part of that is the display: the 2020 Envy has an 88 percent screen-to-body ratio, compared to 79 percent on last year’s model. This is far from a deal-breaking problem, of course.
Nothing else about this XPS is new: it has the same thin and light build, the same tiny bezels and webcam, the same glass-fiber palm rests, and the same 16:10 aspect ratio as the past couple Dell XPS 13s I’ve reviewed. It’s a 3.5K (3456 x 2160) panel with a claimed 100,000:1 contrast ratio. Photography by Monica Chin / The Verge.
It’s kept the same 90 percent screen-to-body ratio.). Microsoft’s Surface devices have been using the 3:2 aspect ratio for years, and I’m glad that the Spectre line is finally making the switch. That means if your daily tasks are similar to mine, the Spectre should make it through your workday with no problem.
Acer claims an 84 percent screen-to-body ratio, a slight improvement from the Swift 3 I reviewed earlier this year (82.73 I’d still have no problem carrying it around in a backpack or briefcase. It’s also a 16:9 aspect ratio, which I’m not a fan of — I had to zoom out from the recommended DPI to comfortably work in multiple windows.).
Additionally, it uses a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is falling out of fashion among premium business laptops for a reason — it’s cramped for multitasking purposes. I didn’t encounter any problems while running it through my usual office work. Photography by Monica Chin / The Verge. I would expect more from a $1,249 laptop.
The Gram communicates its biggest selling points — lightness and longevity — so effectively that it outshines some persisting minor problems. The screen’s large size and 16:10 aspect ratio give content a lot of room to breathe. Wherever you use this laptop, glare could be a big problem, like it can be with a TV.
Meanwhile, computational photography is great, but there’s only so much it can do — stacking a few images to get better dynamic range or depth information is good, but you reach a point of diminishing returns pretty quickly. But a technique first tested in the ’20s soon solved the problem.
The stylus, which lives in a handy loop on the right side of the keyboard deck, didn’t give me any problems and has two buttons that you can map to your taste in Lenovo’s Pen Settings software. Like the Surface Pro line, the X12 has a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is my favorite aspect ratio (yes, I have a favorite).
Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebook, Asus’ Chromebook Flip C436, and many of last year’s top contenders like the Pixelbook Go all used a 16:9 aspect ratio — a more square 3:2 screen is taller and gives you significantly more vertical space. Photography by Monica Chin / The Verge. The first is its 3:2 display. The second is the price.
The 16:9 aspect ratio is fine when the screen is in landscape, but becomes awkwardly tall and long in portrait mode. It’s effectively the opposite of the problem with the webcam placement on the iPad Pro.) Photography by Dan Seifert / The Verge. When the screen is rotated to portrait, the camera is awkwardly off to the side.
Of course, the Slim 7 is still far from a heavy device, and it’s no problem to carry around in a backpack or briefcase. What did hinder it was the 16:9 aspect ratio, which just feels really cramped for multitasking — especially if you’ve used a 16:10 or 3:2 display before. Photography by Monica Chin / The Verge. It weighs 3.1
Samsung’s latest tablets are saddled by familiar problems If you want to buy a tablet that can possibly replace your laptop, there are two options most people go for: Apple’s iPad Pro or Microsoft’s Surface Pro. It’s when you try to do some more demanding things or branch outside the most popular apps where you run into some problems.
The panel has a 2560 x 1600 resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio — so not only is it wide, but you get an extra bit of vertical space compared to many popular laptops. I loaded up dozens of Chrome tabs with no problem and only saw slowdown if there were multiple downloads running or files being copied in the background.
The Xperia 1 III’s screen stands out among its fellow flagships both in terms of its slimmer 21:9 aspect ratio and its higher 1644 x 3840 resolution, which Sony calls 4K (it’s close). I have no problem telling you that this was all way over my head, but I played with it anyway. Photography by Allison Johnson / The Verge.
And let’s get this out of the way: it is the best consumer drone for video and photography you can buy right now. It is also a 4:3 sensor, which means your photos are no longer in 3:2 aspect ratio. Both drones shoot 20MP photos, but in a 4:3 aspect ratio, not 3:2 as before. But that doesn’t mean it’s the drone for everyone.
Thanks to its rounded corners and sloped edges, the G Pure is comfortable to hold for long stretches, though it’s a bit tall (the screen has a 20:9 aspect ratio) to use single-handed for my small hands. Photography by Gloria Sin / The Verge. For a big phone with a 6.5-inch inch thick and weighing 0.41lbs.
inch display, which, at 720 pixels wide, is too low-resolution for a screen this large (720 x 1640 pixels; aspect ratio 20.5:9). inch screen, with a higher-resolution FHD+ LCD display than the 20SE (1080 x 2400 pixels with 20:9 aspect ratio). There is also a problem with the Super Macro mode on both phones’ 2-megapixel macro cameras.
With all that said, I don’t have many problems with this Chromebook. inch screen is cramped for a desktop OS like Chrome OS (though it is bright enough to use outdoors, and I appreciate that it has a 16:10 aspect ratio — 16:9 would be unbearable for me at this size). is pushing it. It’s just in a bit of an odd spot. Oh look, a port!
The Flip 3’s 9:22 aspect ratio is taller than most phones, but other than that, it works just like any other modern smartphone. If you look for the crease, you will see it, but it’s not a problem in normal use. You can get phones that last longer between charges, but most people won’t have a problem with the Flip 3’s stamina.
Its 20:9 aspect ratio is a hair taller than the S22 Plus and Pixel 6 Pro’s displays, and it matches their top refresh rate of 120Hz. It’s just sub-6GHz 5G, no super-fast millimeter wave (mmWave), which isn’t a problem for the vast majority of people. Photography by Allison Johnson / The Verge. The 10 Pro’s 6.7-inch
The display’s 20:9 aspect ratio was carefully considered by Asus. I felt the difference in using this phone versus a battery-for-days budget or midrange phone, but I had no problem getting through a full day of moderate use. Photography by Allison Johnson / The Verge.
It does have the cramped 16:9 aspect ratio, something I’ve been glad to see other ThinkPads shifting away from this year. Photo editing, in both Google Photos and Adobe Lightroom, was also no problem on this machine. Lenovo says it hasn’t seen this problem before, so it may have been an issue with my unit.
The bigger software problem remains: Amazon does not have access to the Google Play Store and is therefore lacking many of the apps you are familiar with on a phone (think Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, Google Docs, etc). Still, when it comes time to do schoolwork, the Kids edition tablets have the same problems as the standard models.

I was able to run around a dozen Chrome tabs plus Slack, Spotify, YouTube videos, and some downloads in the background without a problem. Photography by Monica Chin / The Verge. It’s just not perfect yet.
The main hinge is stiff and doesn’t wobble — a common problem with Microsoft’s older Surface Book design — but you can still open it with one finger easily. If you plan on gaming a lot, you might want to pick up the 127W charger from the Book 3, which Rubino says solved the power drain problem on his Laptop Studio.
As for the ride, Cowboy’s own silent 250W rear-hub motor coupled with a new, longer-lasting Gates Carbon Belt drive and lower gear ratio produces a highly intuitive experience. Most of the time, this won’t be a problem, but it only takes one dead phone battery after a long night out to realize how short-sighted this approach is.
Perhaps MSI could have managed to fit in a 16:10 aspect ratio display, given how large it is. That can be a problem with some models, which sometimes come paired with a power adapter that can’t keep enough wattage going in to match what’s being spent by the hardware during gaming. Photography by Cameron Faulkner / The Verge.
He went on: To my mind, political correctness as it exists in the modern university is a problem, because it can stifle discussion and silence minority views. Also useful for protest photography. But that does not mean that all standards of civility should be dismissed as examples of “political correctness.”
