Microsoft has developed a new image-captioning algorithm that exceeds human accuracy in certain limited tests. These images span a range of scenarios, from sports to holiday snaps to food photography and more. Algorithms are tested on their ability to create captions for these pictures that match those from humans.
It’s tactile and actually presses in instead of relying on capacitive touch sensors. I greatly prefer this approach since you won’t have to deal with accidental presses as often when adjusting the earbuds. The button only requires a light press, so you’re not constantly jamming the buds deeper into your ears.
Unfortunately, after testing the Sense for the past week, the impression I’ve gathered is that Fitbit tried to do too much in too little time, which results in a smartwatch that feels slightly unfinished. We may update this review down the road if longer-duration testing proves to garner important insights. A normal button.
I’ve been using a pre-production unit in my testing, but Insta360 did not indicate to me that it was going to change anything when it comes to features or performance on the final version.). Photography by Becca Farsace / The Verge. It is absolutely a problem I would like to see these companies spend more time fixing.
This is the second AMD system I’ve reviewed that hasn’t played nice with Adobe Premiere Pro — I wasn’t able to run our traditional export test using hardware acceleration without the system crashing. The 14-inch, 1920 x 1080 IPS panel is rated for 300 nits of brightness, but it only got up to 260 in my testing. It feels well-made.
For cloud gaming to work well, companies like Amazon need to rapidly deliver compressed video frames that respond to your button presses even if internet bandwidth dips and even if your house isn’t located right next to an Amazon server farm. Additional testing by Sean Hollister. Photography by Chaim Gartenberg / The Verge.
There is also a 4GB RAM / 64GB storage option available for $250 (I tested the 32GB version). That said, you’ll be hard-pressed to find substantially better performance at the $200 price point. On the 32GB version I tested, 14GB of that storage is already occupied by Android 10 files. inch compared to 6.4-inch
Aside from some minor scuffs acquired in the driveway test, the DuraForce Ultra 5G merely shrugged at my efforts and kept on working just fine. Aside from some minor scuffs acquired in the driveway test, the DuraForce Ultra 5G merely shrugged at my efforts and kept on working just fine.
as tested) the Spectre x360 is easily my new favorite 2-in-1 laptop. My test unit has an FHD option that HP says should reach 400 nits of brightness. I measured it multiple times, but it only reached 285 in my testing — which is dimmer than I’d hope to see from a device at this price point. There’s a single USB 3.2
The Siri button is now on the side, where you’re less likely to press it accidentally. The clickpad is quieter when pressed than the buttons below it, which are each significantly noisier than any other remotes I had to compare against, be it for a Roku, Chromecast, or otherwise. Photography by Chris Welch / The Verge.
I recently had the enviable opportunity to test out the Odyssey Neo G9 with Doom Eternal and Cyberpunk 2077 , and the thing that stood out to me the most — aside from practically being enveloped in its 1000R curve — was the intense brightness of the display. It’s a light that Samsung installed at the press briefing.).
For a phone built to survive the rigorous military-grade tests for dust, sand, water, and drop protection, the DuraSport’s design doesn’t scream rugged. You can set it to open the exact camera mode you need in a hurry (underwater shutter button) or open a particular app if you double-press the button. DuraSport 5G UW Camera.
For the past few days, I’ve been testing the ZenBook 14 UX425EA (specifically, the UX425EA-SH74). This does require a surprisingly firm press — I usually had to thunk it a couple times.) The display reached 349 nits in our testing. You can’t buy it yet — Asus is eyeing a mid-October release. The second is NumberPad 2.0.
“We’ve stayed true to our initial vision of providing a better alternative to the car — in form and function — and with the Cowboy 4 it’s a shift we will accelerate and lead,” said Roose in a press statement. Photography by Thomas Ricker / The Verge. Cowboy CEO Adrien Roose riding a near-final C4 in Amsterdam.
Point the camera at a subject, press the large shutter button on the front, and out rolls a soon-to-be square image to the tune of a high-pitched hum. Photography by Becca Farsace / The Verge. The window on the bottom right lets you know how many exposures you have left. There are only three modes: on, off, and selfie.
For instance, the num lock is too easy to press accidentally, being right next to backspace, and the only function key is located too far away from the most essential function row buttons, making it a stretch to adjust the volume one-handed. Photography by Cameron Faulkner / The Verge. The Thunderbolt 4 port, USB-C 4.0
and they likely will based on my testing (more on that later). That’s the depth I tested the seat post at because it was just right for my height. A short press of the power button causes the D11 to spring to life. Some other things to note: I managed 49km (30 miles) during my range test over mostly flat city bike paths.
I’ve been able to test-drive a Tab S7 Plus for a few days, and here are my thoughts on the highs and lows of the experience. Yes, technically Apple’s processor is faster than the Qualcomm in a benchmark test. I have to press the Fn key every time I want to pause music or adjust the volume. The speakers are loud and sound great.
Amazon executives told me many different form factors and designs were tested and this shape is what they’ve landed on for now. It can show you that the oven was left on, but it has no ability to press the buttons itself to turn it off. That’s why it needs to do larger-scale testing than it’s able to do in secret.
DJI has also developed an optional $199 motion controller, which I didn’t have time to test for this review. In case you lose control or need to come to a full stop, there is an emergency button on the controller, but I didn’t have time to press it, unfortunately. Photography and video by Vjeran Pavic / The Verge.
One day “soon,” Aqara says the M2 will also control Bluetooth LE sensors and bulbs, for example, but this wasn’t ready for me to test. My Aqara test network consisted of 16 Aqara devices spread across three floors of a narrow but tall Amsterdam home. There were quirks, but they’re easy to overlook for the price.
Opening the case is more of a process than usual since Bose put in a latch that you’ve got to release by pressing the button on front. Bose also lets you choose your preferred action for a long-press of the left bud: it can either announce battery status or skip to the next song. Photography by Chris Welch / The Verge.
On top of that, it still offers a very good 10x optical zoom, as well as some appealing updates to its photography features. In my testing, it was a very rare occurrence to see the screen stutter as I scrolled, and in the cases where it did, I don’t think it was the phone’s fault (I’m looking at you, Twitter for Android).
Long-press a notification in the conversations section, and you can choose between three options: Priority, Alerting, and Silent. You can still long-press a notification to quickly adjust how (or if) a notification appears. It’s back this year in the Android 11 beta, and it worked flawlessly in my testing.
The interface is no different from watchOS 7, which means there’s still the fiddly constellation of app icons when you press the crown, tap elements are rather small, and there’s a lot of text to read. During my testing, I ran into a bug where I was unable to turn on the content and privacy restrictions at all.
It supports two concurrent Bluetooth connections with the A2DP codec, letting you flip between them with a button press on the speaker itself or through its companion app. It’s fluid, and both methods worked perfectly in my testing. Photography by Cameron Faulkner / The Verge.
I’ve been testing both for a week and they’re the best smartwatches I’ve ever used with a Samsung phone. You can long-press to switch them. Each button also has a different, hard-coded function when you long-press it. Long-pressing the bottom button takes you to Samsung Pay. Photography by Dieter Bohn / The Verge.
The outside of the ear cups have cartoon graphics — a fairy princess and rainbow unicorn on the models I tested, with a lion, cartoon DJ, scientist, and pirate on the other color options — and you can get them in pink, white, yellow, gray, blue, or dark blue depending on your child’s preference. Photography by Dan Seifert / The Verge.
My test model had a GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q (in addition to a 1TB Samsung 970 Plus PCIe NVME M.2 The keys are comfortable to press, too. The first test was Horizon Zero Dawn , one of the most taxing games on the market that has been giving even desktop Nvidia cards trouble. Photography by Monica Chin / The Verge.
It’s also a perfect example of how Samsung often whiffs on its first attempt at something but presses on anyway, eventually achieving the original vision it couldn’t the first time. This year, I’m hard pressed to find major faults with the Galaxy S21’s hardware. The Note 20 Ultra fixed the worst bugs but didn’t improve image quality.
They’ve been easy to memorize in my time testing the Jib True buds. You can long-press either earbud for three seconds to switch back and forth between the two most recently paired devices. Photography by Chris Welch / The Verge. Watching videos across a few devices worked fine, and I didn’t have any connectivity problems.
Vaio says the Z has passed MIL-STD 10H torture tests, including drop tests, pressure tests, and body-twist tests among others. While I usually have to push pretty hard to get keyboards to bend, the area under the Shift key trampolined with a firm thumb press. Nothing else was running during these tests.)
I’m testing the keyboard with a US layout, but as of this writing, Logitech is yet to get back to me about a UK layout version. The G413 TKL SE lacks the USB passthrough of the original G413, and it’s also only got 6-key rollover as opposed to 26, which means you’re able to press fewer keys simultaneously before it gets confused.
Multiple Suntables can be linked together for bigger sound, but I wasn’t able to test this. I tested the Suntable in two outdoor spaces. I also tested it at the beach. So that’s how I tested it. I unboxed the table at 5:30PM, pressed the power button, and. I tested the Suntable in the way a family would use it.
Yes, this $160 Moto phone is quite durable, but I wouldn’t test the smartphone gods — you’ll still be better off with a case. You can use your face to unlock the phone (no need to press the power button first), and ask the phone to bring you to the last app or webpage that was opened (rather than the lockscreen).
There’s still a circular button on each earbud that responds to single, double, and triple presses. The Elite 85ts still won out and hushed more noise when I tested them side by side in a coffee shop or on the streets of Brooklyn, but not lopsidedly so. Photography by Chris Welch / The Verge.
It’s equipped with optical mechanical switches that can theoretically register key presses far faster than their traditional mechanical counterparts. Then, its 8,000Hz polling rate means it can report that key press to your PC nearly instantaneously. So yes, it’s theoretically very fast, arguably faster than most people will notice.
Those are the questions I’ve been asking over the past week-plus as I’ve been testing the new OnePlus Watch , a $159 smartwatch and the first wearable from the smartphone company. I tested it on both OnePlus and Samsung smartphones and the experience was the same. The OnePlus Watch’s interface mimics Wear OS and is easy to navigate.
Seriously, if you haven’t tested your own Donate Now button lately, do it! Make it easy for them to adapt your press release into a story. Does someone on the Board know someone at the local paper who can get your press release noticed? This helps tie things together in the donor’s mind. You may be surprised at what you find.
During a set of chest presses, the pin securing the weight plates broke. So, as you can imagine, I was wary about testing the $429 (or as low as $300 on sale) NordicTrack iSelect Adjustable Dumbbells. I’ve done overhead tricep extensions, deadlifts, Russian twists, renegade rows, chest presses, squats — you name it.
I’ve certainly seen the light after testing a new 2021 edition ST2, Stromer’s first e-bike with a carbon belt drive. A torque sensor ensures that power is delivered just as soon it detects a harder press on the pedal. Photography by Thomas Ricker / The Verge.
And after several days spent testing the Fit Pros — often for several hours at a time — I haven’t noticed any soreness. The wing tip is flexible and pliable enough that it doesn’t press into the concha of your ear in an annoying way. They passed the gym test and didn’t come even slightly loose during high intensity runs.
Sometimes in-screen scanners can be finicky, but I had no issues using it in my tests. I have to press the Fn key every time I want to pause music or adjust the volume. In my testing, neither showed any slowdown or chug, even when bouncing between multiple apps and running a handful of tabs in the browser. Performance.
