I just got an email from Holly Ross, the Executive Director of the Non-profit Technology Network – better known as NTEN. You received the same email if, like me, you’re subscribed to the NTEN newsletter (hint hint). What’s the Nonprofit SocialNetworking Survey? First, go take this years survey.
Bottom line – nonprofits are having some success in connecting with new constituents and generating action, but the socialnetwork works best when requiring a low level of commitment. Like other studies have noted, socialnetworks like Facebook are not raising much money. hours per week on the socialnetwork.

I think I can write something up.
We aimed instead to look at the online giving experience across the Web at a time when there are more and more ways to give, and how that experience influences giving. Giving on socialnetworks is significant, but donor loyalty is highest on charity websites that build strong connections with donors. Work hard to win them over.
Apparently, the data stays in the container (the socialnetwork site) and probably can’t move beyond it. We don’t want to have the same application on multiple socialnetworks. We want applications that can use data from multiple socialnetworks.
