After thinking and talking about it for a long time, this year we at NTEN are finally beginning a website overhaul and re-launch in earnest. NTEN is excited to announce we will be working with Pongos Interactive to implement our new site. NTEN has deep ties with the Drupal community and has been on the Drupal platform for years.
We are wrapping up the community card sorting exercise in August and will use the results to refine and inform the new information architecture of the site. Content audit: We have started a content audit and have begun to feel overwhelmed by the amount of content currently available on the site. We''re very excited to have their help!

Recently we took a survey of the NTEN community to get your opinions about online platforms and how you like to engage online. After considering several different platform options, we''ve selected the HigherLogic platform, which will be the new "behind the scenes" software powering our my.nten.org site.
The links were tracked so that if you clicked the sad link, you’d be automatically removed from NTEN emails, and if you clicked the happy one, you’d stay in (and if you clicked both we kept you unless you specified otherwise). One of the points he made during our planning call is that in order to curate, you need two sets of tools – news discovery and curation tools. The State of Nonprofit Data report was released this week (hat tip to Ted Fickes ). Idealware and NTEN prepared the report based on a survey in April 2012 with nearly 400 nonprofit organizations about how they manage and use data. The report found that nonprofits are either doing a lot with their metrics or not much at all.
I have some news to share with you: most PDFs on your site don’t get read. World Bank recently released a report that showed that nearly a third of the reports (in PDF format) on their site were not being downloaded and read. They actually can be, but there are definite pros and cons to using them on your site. Sad but true.
