During the NTC, ThePort Network, Inc , NTEN , and Common Knowledge released results of a survey that examines the use of social networking as a marketing and fundraising tool. There was also a webinar presentation of the results. I laid it out in terms of type of project and minimum amount of time to accomplish.
Each reason is clearly presented with no more text than you might put on a PowerPoint slide. For each reason you view, the site ticks up your donation counter one buck and if you decide to give, the resulting donate screen defaults to the amount of your donation counter and number of reasons you needed to be “convinced”.
These reports may result in kudos for an increase in pageviews, or grimaces for the decrease in returning visitors. If you have a homepage slide show that takes up a lot of real estate, maybe you want to ask "How many people actually click on the homepage slideshow? Ask and answer a question.
