I am delighted that I have an article, An Introduction To Screencasting published over at Idealware. Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm not blogging to this for self-promotion. I'm screaming it from the rooftops to thank Laura Quinn for her editorial insights and for publishing it! And you know what? She didn't pay me.
NTEN and SalesForce.Com Foundation sponsored my latest screencast called "Leveraging New Audiences for Nonprofits" (using GoogleAdWords and SalesForce Integration). And, now for some reflections on the screencasting process. I haven't seen many screencasts. I've add some of those to the screencasting primer.

My favorite quote about the session was from Jason Zannon at Democracy in Action: Beth Kanter delivers herself of a tour de force on screencasting. At the NTC in Boston there were vendors in the hall way, including Macromedia. Since I had been playing with screencast software, Captivate , from Macromedia, I stopped by to put my card in the raffle for a copy of Studio and listened to the pitch.

The question reminded of a screencast I created back in 2007 for NTEN and Salesforce Foundation that covered Google Adwords campaigns). All in all, a packed day before the official start of the 2011 NTC. I think there is a lot of opportunity for nonprofits to share their practices around creating campaigns.

I'm glad I went to the trouble of having a backup plan, particularly for the Screencasting Session at NTC which include showing some screencast. Michael Stein (East Coast), who attended the session, emailed me today and asked how I managed to download the screencasts on YouTube. What I did was download local copies.
I'm in the process of preparing material for the Screencasting Session at NTC (BTW, I'm presenting with Ian Miller from C3 who is sponsoring the NTC Video Contest last call). You can create screencasts using both approaches. I think that is where the power of screencasting for nonprofits lies. Is there a way?
About a year ago, I did a lot of research on a screencast about widgets for nonprofits and put together two wikis - Nonprofit Widgets (for a session at 2007 NTC Conference) and Fundraising Widget. | View | Upload your own. Alas, travel schedule prevented me from hearing it live, but Peter posted his slides and examples.

So, I asked them if they would help lead a GeekOut session at the NTC Conference in DC in April, 2007. I'm also putting together a panel on screencasting along with Ian Miller from See3 Media. And, they said yes, along with Andy Carvin and Jonny Goldstein.

I got asked this question several times during various presentations/panels at I was on at the NTC, including the Flickr Affnity Group session on Wednesday. You can use the flickr slide show option as shown here (Thanks Elliot ) That reminded me that I did a screencast on how to do a flickr slide show !
They also happen face to face at the NTC and other conferences. Consider having a coaching system - perhaps some quick videos or screencasts that show how to participate, or perhaps a live webinar where people are asked to participate in a “sandbox” space and ask questions about the tool(s). In April, at the NTC Conference I organized a video blogging panel with Jonny Goldstein and Andy Carvin. She invited to come, but this summer's work deadlines for screencasts just didn't permit it. And, of course, there are many pressing projects and needs. I met Christina Arnold who told me about her NGO and their work in Cambodia.
