I gotta hand it to Holly Ross and the tireless NTEN team for putting on yet another fantastic event! While listening is critical at an event like NTC, it’s also a key function back in the offices of our nonprofits. If you’re lucky enough to have a decent budget, you can look into social media monitoring tools like Radian6.
It’s been a few days since I returned from the Nonprofit Technology Conference (#12NTC) hosted by NTEN in San Francisco, CA. Holly and the rest of the NTEN team (including all the volunteers) did an incredible job inspiring of over 1800 people for three days. 4) Strategy, Not Tools (Duh!). Not simple tools and tactics.

I was disappointed when it was announced that the NTENNTC would be in San Francisco this year. The NTC is the nonprofit technology conference. The sessions I attended were outstanding, and very easy to adapt to the way our small nonprofit can get more out of the tools we use. I though the NTC would be out of my reach.

NTEN’s Nonprofit Technology Conference held each Spring is always THE place to be for nonprofit techies: whether you work in a nonprofit organization or with one, are totally technical or fell into your techie job, like social media or like wiring an office. The conference schedule for NTC has been developed openly and collaboratively.
The State of Nonprofit Data report was released this week (hat tip to Ted Fickes ). Idealware and NTEN prepared the report based on a survey in April 2012 with nearly 400 nonprofit organizations about how they manage and use data. The report found that nonprofits are either doing a lot with their metrics or not much at all.
NTEN and M&R also released their report, the 2013 eNonprofit Benchmarks Study. A benchmark study is a tool, and like any tool, it depends on how it’s used. Given the breadth of the data points, you may ask yourself what should I read? Well, we’d hope all of them.

I have not been blogging because I've been at the NTENNTC Conference , the premier event for nonprofit techies taking place in San Francisco. NTEN had also set up a google application that lets people vote on questions which how they decided to handle the Q/A in a room of 1400 people.
I look forward to the NTENNTC (Nonprofit Technology Network's conference) every year. It's in Washington, DC March 17-19, although I'll be arriving in DC on the 16th for an NTEN Board Meeting. In fact, this year we have NTEN Organization membership so there will be four of us at the conference.

I recommend having a full soup-to-nuts inventory of everything -- PCs, software, cabling, servers, peripherals, etc -- but for this scenario, I mean a simple list of your core solutions and tools.
