It’s been a few days since I returned from the Nonprofit Technology Conference (#12NTC) hosted by NTEN in San Francisco, CA. I was disappointed when it was announced that the NTENNTC would be in San Francisco this year. The NTC is the nonprofit technology conference. I though the NTC would be out of my reach. And then my friends at Convio got together with the good folks at NTEN and did something wonderful. It will be worth it.

This year, I’m much more clear about the directions my work is going in, and what I’m looking for at NTC. Last year I was just re-emerging from having taken a break to go to seminary, and not quite exactly sure what I was doing. And of course, there is Penguin Day !!

We are excited to welcome longtime NTEN Member, Ash Shepherd, to the NTEN team. As the Education Director, Ash will be responsible for overseeing and designing programs for the NTEN Community to help them transform technology into social change. Ash has been a go-to resource for NTEN staff and members for years.
Here at NTEN, we were shocked and saddened to hear the news that last week our colleague, Michael DeLong, passed away very suddenly. Michael was an active member of the NTEN community, NTC speaker, colleague, friend, and an all-around great person to know. This photo comes from that event.".

It’s hard to believe that the 2012 NTC is a wrap. As Holly wrote in the #NTCFail blog post outlining the things that didn’t go as planned at the event, we value being open and accountable at NTEN. But we also want to share the things that were awesome, the pieces of the NTC that we feel pretty good about at the end of the day.

The Friday plenary session at the NTC featured Dan Heath, Co-Author of Flip the Switch, and was all about organizational change. Also new this year is the online NTC. She gave a quick update on NTC and thanked everyone including, staff, the community, and sponsors. This year 2008 people are in attendance, the most ever.

Rather than list off the top things you can do to raise money and spread your money right now, we decided to instead put our money where our mouth is - quite literally - and make a concerted effort to help the entire nptech community by raising money online for scholarships to none other than the 2009 NTC Conference in San Francisco.

At the 2010 NTC, David Neff interviewed Corey Pudhorodsky on why he's a member of NTEN. Corey describes the Nonprofit Techonology Conference as summer camp for nonprofit tech geeks.
