Then the 2011 NTC Scholarship Silent Auction is for you! Every year, we raise up to $10,000 to send staffers from small nonprofits to the NTC. While we've used the public humiliation of the NTEN staff as the theme in the past, this year we want to celebrate the collective awesome of the NTEN community. Be prepared!

This year, I’m much more clear about the directions my work is going in, and what I’m looking for at NTC. Last year I was just re-emerging from having taken a break to go to seminary, and not quite exactly sure what I was doing. And of course, there is Penguin Day !!

Instead of the 5-star system we've used in the past, this year you can only vote a session "Up" or "Down". If you work in a big office with lots of folks on a shared IP who are interested in the 2012 NTC, it may seem like the voting process is wonky; you'll essentially be changing the votes of one of your colleagues.
And, as you may know, every year, NTEN tries to raise $10,000 to send staffers from small nonprofits to the conference who otherwise couldn’t afford to attend. Every dollar is matched by Convio, allowing NTEN to send up to 57 people this year! Then you can view all the items donated to the 2011 NTC campaign.
With over 2,000 attendees NTEN's Nonprofit Technology Conference (NTC) was buzzing with lots of exhibitions displaying technology on offer as well as workshops and side events (which even included free massages provided by PICnet ). read more.
2011 has been a big year for NTEN, especially when it comes to staff. We're hoping that you will join us in welcoming our two newest staff members: Amanda Jones, Membership & Fundraising Coordinator, amanda at nten dot org. If you're an NTEN member, you may have already crossed paths with Amanda.
We received more than 400 ideas this year -- a 75% increase over last year -- and we need your help to narrow those down to the 100 or so that will make the 2011 NTC the best one yet. It’s hard to believe that the 2012 NTC is a wrap. As Holly wrote in the #NTCFail blog post outlining the things that didn’t go as planned at the event, we value being open and accountable at NTEN. But we also want to share the things that were awesome, the pieces of the NTC that we feel pretty good about at the end of the day.
Each year, we at NTEN work hard to make the NTC a more environmentally sustainable event -- this year we even have carbon offsets for travelers! The Friday plenary session at the NTC featured Dan Heath, Co-Author of Flip the Switch, and was all about organizational change. Also new this year is the online NTC. She gave a quick update on NTC and thanked everyone including, staff, the community, and sponsors. This year 2008 people are in attendance, the most ever.
1772 NPTechies registered for 2012 NTC. This year, 137 of you tuned in to the Online NTC, representing 30 states, 6 countries, and 3 continents. It's supposed to: when you change your vote from an "Up" to a "Down", for example, the system takes away your initial +1 (from your "Up" vote) and then tacks on the -1 (because now it's a "Down" vote), for a net change of -2 to the total vote. It makes sense, we promise. Only 1 vote is allowed per IP Address. Those are the basics.

Without a system to help track, organize, and mobilize their efforts on social media, nonprofits are letting key relationships fall through the cracks, losing potential donors and supporters. Social CRMs can be used on their own or can be integrated with your traditional CRM system. Come to our panel at the 2011 NTC !
At NTC, I organized a panel and drop-in clinic called 'NTC Video GeekOut" featuring Jonny Goldstein and Andy Carvin. Our morning panel went well despite a few technical glitches with the sound system. As promised, Ihere's a copy of the release form that NTEN used for the " This I Change" video project.
Last year, NTEN Community Champions helped to raise over $36,000 to support the NTEN Community Challenge , which enhanced NTEN''s program accessibility, including sending over 50 people to the 2014 Nonprofit Technology Conference (14NTC) and the 2014 Leading Change Summit (14LCS) with scholarships.
The NTC is an event largely attended by Americans (and our gentle neighbors to the North). It's kind of hard to know if you're missing 100 name badges out of 2,000, so we clearly need a new system. Next year, we need a system where you can view your badge, make edits, and then get it printed right there on site.
My goal was to bring them to the Linux geek out at NTC , and have people play with Linux installs on them. It works pretty well (at this moment, I’m now downloading and installing the base system.) My next step, after installing the basic Debian system, is to switch the install to Ubuntu. And, in most situations, it is.

There are some fabulous sessions proposed for the 2009 NTC , running the whole gamut of nonprofit technology, from planning to Web 2.0, That’s an interesting model, and, if the software is decent, sounds like it could be a good option for some organizations. But, of course, as with anything, look (a lot) before you leap.
