I hope to share some simple and fun ways to create "shoulder-to-shoulder" instructional media for the panel on Screencasting at NTC I'm doing.
Next month will include NTEN'sNTC. In his workshops, he offers the following formula for a storytelling based on Hollywood script writing: Introduce the central character. The conference season is upon us. For me, it kicks off this weekend at SXSW where I'm participating on three sessions, including the first ever poetry slam.
Targeting a highly technical session to an NTEN audience is kind of like cooking a gourmet meal with one entrée for 1000 randomly picked people. We've already summarized the view from the top in a quick, ignite-style presentation , available wherever fine NTC materials are found (and also on Slideshare). And stayed tuned for more!
I was delighted to see that some of my colleagues were excited to try some of these ideas in their trainings and Kivi Leroux Miller suggested that we do a session at NTC this year called "Online Trainings That Don't Suck," so watch out. Be prepared to improvise more and drop the script if it isn't working with the audience.
I had the honored of moderating a free wheeling plenary discussion on Day #3 of NTC on “ Innovation and Nonprofits.” I usually set up a google document for the panel that includes the script, online interaction design, timings, and logistics (when to arrive for the AV check, etc).
