A way to connect your org to your community? When an org sends an email, the open rate can be low - but when a person sends an email to friends, the open rate is 90%! When it comes time to ask your network for something, they will not need the time to interpret your motivation - because they know you and your org.
It turns out that nonprofits of all sizes are able to scale their fundraising efforts on social networks. The 2011 Nonprofit Social Network Benchmark Report found that 30% of Master Fundraisers – those that brought in more than $100,000 – were small organizations and a further 8% were medium-sized.

What’s interesting is that they did a size of org and recommendation analysis - to break down recommendations by size of organization. Raiser’s Edge, for instance, did much better among large and very large organizations, and very poorly in small orgs (which probably shouldn’t be using it anyway.)

I asked Miles this question: There's a lot of media attention being paid to "Web 2.0" " or what we call "hype" - how does a small nonprofit avoid getting seduced by the hype? What are items on the checklist to determine whether web2.0 is and why it matters to their organization.
And, because your org is discussed on infinite communications channels, it's more important than ever to brand your organization, programs, and campaigns. This must be real, or it will undermine everything your org is trying to do. This is much more effective than your org making the ask directly. BS meters are very sensitive.
Many times it is after the fact that an org calls in a professional to repair the intrusion. Having some simple guidelines and understanding of the different doors malicious activity can enter is the best defense and prevention an org can have.
