What has been your experience getting a Wikipedia Page for your nonprofit? Because it was such a painfully long process and because I couldn’t find too many complete articles when I googled “ Wikipedia nonprofits “, I decided to share the lessons we learned so that you may not make the same mistakes we made.

Discussion boards can be added to your website, leveraged in a Ning site, or you can use a google group or similar solution. Consider Ning, Basecamp, and Zoho. Some are huge. Some are successful, but messy. It may still require somebody’s time to encourage participation and perhaps do a little re-formatting and re-organizing.

Niche Networks and Early Adoption (Instagram, Tumblr, Ning, Change.org, Care2, Wiser Earth, BlackPlanet, Quepasa, New Myspace): 5-10 Hours Weekly. The Facebook Community Pages that were created by automating content from Wikipedia have been mostly removed from Facebook Search. Flickr and Pinterest: 5 Hours Weekly.
