Although the Journal was prepared in partnership with NTEN, I take full and personal responsibility for the decision to use a closed license. In July 2008, rising costs and shortages of food were in the news. We had recently begun to address this issue through a new initiative, so we decided to ask supporters to join the effort by raising enough money to cover our program's summer food costs. We set a deadline with a challenge match from our sponsor for up to $10,000.
