While at South by South West Interactive (SXSWi) Amy Sample Ward spent some time talking with me about how NetSquared ( about ) serves the nonprofit industry. NetSquared is focused on the intersection of technology and social impact.
Non-profits are on the front lines, and we want to support them through technology. When we canvassed the environment and talked to small and medium non-profits, three themes kept on bubbling up. This means long, expensive setup cycles and feature overkill that were not meant for small/medium non-profits.

Instead of grant deliverables or profit, passion and impact are the bottom line motivators for change. Obviously “profit” is a slippery slope, but in most scenarios, it isn’t the community at large that would financially benefit off of change. Adoption is something we’ll come back to later as well.

Remember the digital period, way back in time, when any tool that someone launched – be it for profit, for a lot of profit, or for compromise – was a tool we felt obligated to register for, create a profile on, and otherwise try to adopt?
