As I wrote in Loyal to the Sky , I spent about five months in India and Nepal right after 9/11. I feel like I've done a lot of different activism, and a lot of journalism, and the motivating force for all of that was to shine a spotlight on all the places of suffering, and to try to emphasize voices that often went unheard.
