Even low-cost hobbyist drones like the Parrot AR drone quadricopter can produce and send high-definition videos and photos to a smartphone or tablet. After the recent Nepal earthquake , the Canadian nonprofit, GlobalMedic , flew drones over the affected areas to create 3D maps of the worst-hit zones.
