Leviathan V2 sound system, following up its previous iteration that launched back in 2014. But, of course, the wired subwoofer is there to further amp up the booming low-frequency sounds. I enjoyed using it enough to leave the setting switched on, but some musicsounded better to me with the setting off.
A supremely comfortable fit, decent noise cancellation, and good sound for $100 1More has absolutely flooded the true wireless earbud market, and it’s confident enough in its new ComfoBuds Pro noise-canceling earbuds to proclaim them as superior to the AirPods Pro — for a fraction of the price. But do they sound better than the AirPods Pro?
A mood-setting novelty speaker that doesn’t slouch on sound Every so often, you get a reminder that Weird Sony is still alive and well. It’s fair to say that the $350 LSPX-S3 Glass Sound Speaker is exactly that kind of product. The LSPX-S3 stands slightly over 11 inches tall and is heavier than it looks at 2.5
Amazon’s latest Echo brings room tuning and impressive sound quality to the $100 price point The smart speaker competition this year is the hottest it’s ever been. It has a brand-new Echo with the biggest overhaul in design and sound quality since the first Echo surprised the world back in 2014. And it’s all for the same $99.99
They’ve switched from an open-air design to a sealed fit; have better sound, thanks to that decision (and a partnership with THX); and they offer adequate active noise cancellation. For Samsung , it’s the clever new speech detection feature that enables ambient sound as soon as you start talking. In Apple’s case, that’s Spatial Audio.
And aside from a few tweaks Sony made to how it upscales music, the 1000XM4s sound just like their predecessors — a very good thing, trust me. This also lets you find your misplaced headphones by playing a sound through them, and you’ll get low-battery notifications when that 30-hour runtime is nearly exhausted. Look familiar?
Artist Jennifer Idrizi has said that it’s inspired by the “structure” of music — the fade in and fade out. Since they cost the same, you might be wondering how the picture frame speaker compares to the Sonos One speaker in terms of sound quality. Tap a button, and the three devices are grouped together for both TV audio and music.
This small speaker boasts delightful sound Marshall’s new $149 Emberton Bluetooth speaker gives the beloved Logitech Ultimate Ears Boom a run for its money. I’ve been using the Emberton nonstop since I got a review unit to test, and it easily hit the 20-hour lifespan claim when it was piping out music at medium volume.
On top of the mini is the only interface on the device itself, a flat plastic touch-sensitive pad that you can use to invoke Siri, play or pause music, or adjust volume. It will glow white when music is playing or green when you’re using the mini as a speakerphone for calls. HomePod mini sound quality.
Google’s latest smart speaker has good sound and an attractive price Four years is an eternity in the modern tech product world, but that’s exactly how long it’s been since Google’s first smart speaker, the Google Home , was released. Still, the Nest Audio’s shape is hard to describe without accidentally sounding pejorative.
Fit is extremely important in earbuds, not only for ANC but also for the best sound quality experience, especially in the lower frequencies. The app plays about 10 seconds of ringtone-esque orchestral music, then displays a “good seal” or “bad seal” result for each earbud. They have 11mm drivers that create a more treble-heavy sound.
V-Moda’s first noise-canceling headphones are built well and have balanced sound, but they fall short on features Apple’s AirPods Max just might have ushered in a new norm of $500-plus wireless headphones. The buttons are mushy, which I can understand since that means they don’t click loudly as you’re listening to music.
Sony’s new earbuds deliver on sound, battery life, and beat all comers at noise cancellation Sony first released its WF-1000XM3 earbuds nearly two years ago, and though they offered some of the best noise cancellation and sound quality you could find at that time, a lot has changed since. WF-1000XM4 earbuds. Impressive stuff.
So you can take a call or have audio from any app come through from a phone, tablet, or a PC mixed in with the sound coming from your Xbox console. The sound performance from this headset is better than I expected. It sounded as it was intended to sound, though, again, the same nitpicks apply here as they do for music.
It has great sound quality, near-360-degree sound delivery, long-lasting battery life, and elegant design — everything you can expect from the company’s previous models, but far bigger in size and power. You’ll quickly get a sense of how you should orient the HyperBoom in your room once you start hearing music.
But despite their great comfort, good sound, and compact design, those earbuds had some key missing features and fell a bit flat on execution. Beats has outfitted its latest earbuds with 9.5mm drivers, and they produce very satisfying sound quality that I’d rank above the AirPods Pro. Not so with the Beats Fit Pros. Audio sharing.
I found that the best sound quality and bass performance came when I shoved them as far into my ears as they’d comfortably go. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by just how good the Galaxy Buds Live sound. These sound excellent and just what I’d hoped for considering the $170 price. Photography by Chris Welch / The Verge.
It’s more capable, too, operating with the aptX low latency (aptX LL) codec that delivers good-sounding audio with no perceivable lag. Using the receiver, the GTW 270 Hybrid can be especially great for fast-paced games where sound cues count for success; but really, it’s nice to have for any title. But the sound isn’t too compromised.
The OnePlus Buds have strong battery life, decent sound, and a stable wireless connection. Our goal is always to provide a great balance between high-quality sound, fast charging, comfort, and a reasonable price. Like with AirPods, the open-air design of the OnePlus Buds will limit their sound potential.
Bose’s sporty shades offer good sound, a steady fit, and total awareness It’s still fair to call audio sunglasses a niche category, but with Bose offering several models, Amazon in the game , and counting recent announcements from Razer and JLab , it’s certainly a growing one. Describing the sound quality of audio sunglasses can be tricky.
Music can be said to be the universal language: while our tastes in tunes may differ, there are few people who don’t have their own favorite songs to listen to. New technologies have increased the quality of that music — however, we can’t all afford the types of speakers and headphones that offer the most superior sound.
But the Surface Headphones fell short when it came to battery life and sound quality. Except for the dials along the perimeter, the entire surface area of either ear cup can be tapped to pause or play music, skip tracks, and answer calls. And as for sound, the Surface Headphones 2 strike a balance that I’d classify as “good enough.”
With longer continuous battery life than the 1000XM3s — and proper sweat resistance Sony’s noise-canceling WF-1000XM3 earbuds have been considered some of the best-sounding true wireless earbuds on the market since their release. Music is full-bodied regardless of whether you’re playing a pop-filled running playlist or something quieter.
As with the Beats X, you can magnetically attach them together — and this time, your music will automatically pause whenever you do so. It should come as no surprise considering the price gulf, but both of those will sound noticeably better than the Beats Flex, as well. Photography by Chris Welch / The Verge.
Good sound quality and best-in-class noise cancellation come in an awkwardly big case Bose’s original true wireless earbuds, the SoundSport Free, sounded fantastic but were foiled by connectivity problems and audio / video sync issues that the company never fully resolved. They still sound terrific — and now, they’ve got ANC.
Apple has upgraded their sound, added new features like spatial audio head tracking, made them more durable with IPX4 water resistance, and lengthened their battery life. The healthy dose of ambient sound remains, and I’m just someone who prefers earbuds that offer some quiet from the outside world.
Beats says it has put an incredible amount of work into how the Studio Buds sound. Now onto the sound. The Beats Studio Buds feature a new driver architecture, so while the company aimed for its signature “powerful” sound, there’s a noticeable difference when you compare these to the Powerbeats Pro. Each has its own strengths.
The single speaker inside the wedge design gets surprisingly loud and puts out more bass than expected for its size, but it won’t as easily fill a room with sound. It will play music from Amazon Music and won’t allow explicit tracks. Photography by Dan Seifert / The Verge.
The tiny, lightweight speaker has a ton of functionality, but don’t expect sound quality miracles The Sonos Roam is the most focused, calculated product from Sonos yet. The Roam has a curved triangle shape that naturally projects sound both forward and up when it’s laid horizontally. Now onto the main agenda: sound quality.
The 85t buds have a new chip dedicated to noise canceling, which allows them to cancel out a wider range of outside sounds than the 75t, where the ANC feature feels tacked on. Considering the differences in water resistance and sound quality, it’s not a straightforward answer. That’s also because of sound quality.
Capping it all off was a two-part event on Thursday called Dreamverse, hosted at the expansive music venue Terminal 5. Finally, the music stopped, and the lights came up, and an emcee came on stage. Photography by Jacob Kastrenakes / The Verge. The other person said the blockchain is forever and that this imbues value.
But on the newer pair, you only get two choices: “quiet” is standard ANC mode, and “aware” is a transparency feature that pipes in environmental sound. Bose uses voice prompts to tell you which mode you’re in, and the “quiet” one amusingly sounds like you’re being scolded to shush.
It can play music and show you the weather and answer questions like any Echo smart display. These can get quite loud when playing music, and since the Astro can literally follow you around and always move itself to the optimal position, you’re almost always going to be able to hear it well. Photography by Dan Seifert / The Verge.
But the ZenBook sounds great — it easily has some of the best speakers I’ve ever heard in a laptop of any size. My musicsounded like it was coming from all around the room, the percussion really hit, and the bass was even present (which is rare for laptop speakers). Photography by Monica Chin / The Verge.
But as ridiculous as it sounds, the Suntable is convergence done right. Multiple Suntables can be linked together for bigger sound, but I wasn’t able to test this. On a city rooftop, music should be background to the conversations or reading, not the main event, in my opinion. So that’s how I tested it.
Anker continues to impress on value Anker has managed to hold its own against giant tech rivals by delivering better-than-expected sound and cramming features into its Soundcore-branded wireless earbuds — all while pricing them lower than the competition. In truth, they do sound quite dynamic — if not as refined as our favorite premium picks.
Instead of fighting a losing computational photography battle against other smartphones, Sony is taking the fight back to its home turf: the Alpha camera line. Sony has optimized the entire camera stack for high-speed photography: it can focus at 60fps and burst-shoot at 20fps. It starts with a gigantic 1/1.7-inch
Once in a blue moon, Sony’s latest flagship wireless headphones with active noise cancellation and excellent sound see a deep discount. Photography by Cameron Faulkner / The Verge. Photo by Chris Welch / The Verge. Sony’s WH-1000XM4 headphones are $278, and well worth it. Razer’s cheaper Opus headphones are $60 off.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, typing on it feels like typing on the Dragonfly. There, you can swap between presets for Music, Movie, and Voice, as well as equalizer settings for different tunes. Photography by Monica Chin / The Verge. It’s an excellent keyboard. Don’t buy last year’s Spectre.
But while the new Echo came with improvements across the board in terms of sound quality, features, and design, the Echo Dot’s improvements are smaller. It also provides slightly better sound performance from the same 1.6-inch Sound quality on the new Echo Dot is better, but not dramatically so.
It starts by instructing you to put the earbuds in until they’re comfortable and the bass from the sound test is to your liking. Thankfully, your $250 isn’t just going toward that fit: these earbuds also sound quite good. The UE Fits app guides you through the entire thing. The UE Fits with their ear tips before the molding process.
The company says its Surface Earbuds were built with an eye toward unrivaled comfort, a standout design, rich sound quality, and integration with the Office 365 suite. And once we all return to offices, you’ll have to ignore nearby conversations cutting into your music. You can tap twice on either earbud to pause or play music.
Elite 7 Active offering the same core features and sound with tweaks that make them a better fit for workouts. The higher-end Elite 7s have better sound, active noise cancellation, wireless charging, and more extensive water resistance. Elite 7 Pro are the company’s new premium buds, with the $179.99 meant to help you relax.
