Apple’s Clips app finally supports vertical video

The Verge

The Apple Clips video app is finally getting its most-requested feature: different aspect ratios. At its core, Clips is still what it was at the beginning: a very clever way to quickly string together short videos into a little shareable movie. The included music tracks still automatically customize themselves to the length of a video.

percent screen-to-body ratio, while this year’s clocks in at 90 percent. The screen is also brighter than its predecessor’s (321 nits as tested, to last year’s 300 nits) with great colors and contrast, though its 16:9 aspect ratio is a bit cramped. Acer Chromebook Spin 513 review: a chip off a new block

The Verge

If you’re looking for an affordable Netflix machine, the Spin is a great candidate — especially given its movie-friendly 16:9 aspect ratio. The Chromebook delivered decent volume — certainly enough to fill a room — but percussion was tinny as I listened to music, and you can forget about bass entirely.

The Verge

The 9i comes preloaded with Dolby Atmos Speaker System software, where you can swap between presets for Movie, Music, Game, and Voice as well as personalized profiles and a dynamic mode that detects your content and adjusts the audio accordingly. These do make a difference — namely, the Music mode brings the vocals out more.

The Verge

Aspect ratio aside, the screen on this device is quite good. The device comes preloaded with Dolby Access, which you can use to switch between equalizer presets for games, movies, music, and voice calls, as well as custom profiles. There are four 360-degree far-field microphones as well.
