One could make an argument that both have their own roles into the future, and that we’ll be spending a lot of time learning which works best in a given situation. Ethan Zuckerman recently did an analysis of tweets from Moldova and found this to be true. Each of them carry with them their own costs and their own strengths.

This isn’t to underplay Christmas’s role but to include the other moments of the fall and winter calendar which are culturally significant to minorities within our potential donor pool. If we post on Facebook to remind our supporters it’s National Pancake Day, then it seems insensitive (for example) to not remember Hanukkah.
