You need the support of employees who will require mentoring to reach a level of competency where they can work independently. You have to keep moving quickly towards execution or competitors will swallow you whole. But you can’t do it all by yourself.
Therefore, instead of making a significant financial investment in Black-led organizations, funders encourage Black leaders to participate in mentoring and/or leadership development programs. Teach your staff to fish: People aren’t born knowing how to build a major donor pipeline and expertly move folks through this pipeline.
