According to ABC news : According to the trend-tracking website Know Your Meme , the cartoon fad started with Facebook users in Greece and Cyprus in mid-November. There has to be something going on that’s getting everyone excited enough to search for a cartoon character and change their picture.

People who are active on X tend to be plugged into current events and trending news. The Grand Canyon Conservancy is a good example to follow on Threads.
