Why is this good news for nonprofits? We hope that this will spur development for more social applications and mashups as well as better distribution of these applications worldwide. And just like OpenSocial was a great answer to Facebook, this is a great answer to the iPhone. Be Helpful.

The news of YouTube canceling Rewind permanently isn’t a huge surprise. And 2019’s video attempted to skirt controversy entirely by shifting its format from the big-budget mashup of YouTubers from years past to a more ordinary (and boring) list of clips of most-watched creators, videos, and trends.

The company announced the new API last month , but as the news arrived the day after it was hit by one of the most devastating hacks in social media history , it decided to delay the launch. There were two different kinds of APIs discussed – the ones that help organizations with interoperability within their organizational systems – getting data from one app to another, and using APIs for things like Google maps mashups. That’s good news. It seemed that only Blackbaud had APIs you have to pay for.

Here’s some news on a now famous NetSquared alumnus project. Ushahidi was a NetSquared Mashup Challenge winner in the fabled 2008 Netsquared conference in Santa Clara, California. Ushahidi is an NGO headquartered in Kenya.
