With all the buzz about social media, it’s easy to forget that offline media attention can be equally valuable, especially for community-based nonprofits who want to get attention to local projects or recruit local members and volunteers. Offline media attention is good.
I’ve had experience organizing communities offline in local communities, and organizing community online – but the kind of organizing that inspires me the most is combining online and offline. What’s the point in using “global&# tools (social media) for local organizing?
As online and offline world continue to collide, more and more companies are harnessing the possibilities of the web to solve offline problems.
