The conference in Morocco was a “tri-lingual event” and was translated into French, English, and Arabic, although the content and instructional design were identical to the event in Jordan. This blog post is a summary of reflections about the instructional design and how NGOs in these countries are becoming Networked NGOs.
We spent Day 2 of the E-Mediat Train the Trainer sessions on “ Translating The Networked NGO in the Arab World.&# To localize Networked Nonprofit concepts to an Arab NGO context, as appropriate, for improved project outcomes. The Morocco Team blogged about two of the tools that were demoed, social mention and rowfeeder.
The project is training 300 NGOs in Jordan , Lebanon , Tunisia , Morocco , and other Arab countries to become networked ngos and use social media for civil society goals. A true public/private partnership, the funding partners include Microsoft and craiglist Charitable Fund. I’d like to share some of these below.
I’m here at the Dead Sea in Jordan where I delivered the key note for the E-mediat Networking Conference, “New Media for the Networked NGO.” 83% of participants are applying their social media skills to engage local and global communities. The program accomplished the following: 220 organizations participated.
The group has an impressive breadth and depth of expertise, including NGO capacity building, social media expertise and training design and delivery. In the morning, we did a team building exercise to better understand the network core, the in-country teams from Yemen, Morocco, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Jordan.
The goal is to train over 150-250 NGOs in Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen, Morocco, and other countries and help them put social media skills into practice. Establish local networks of individuals and organizations using social media to help build stronger organizations and more participatory societies.
