My most recent visit to Nigeria confirmed this trend. Human rights monitors in Nigeria continue to be harassed. We told the NHRC staff and the MacArthur Foundation, a long-time supporter of the Benetech Human Rights Program, that we would be happy to return for more training when the NHRC was ready. That’s just what happened.

There’s Olutosin in Lagos, Nigeria. There are digital literacy trainings for women springing up in Bangladesh, Internet cafés for women opening doors in Argentina, and women leaders in Kenya prototyping mobile apps that send out alerts if a woman’s safety is threatened. That’s just the beginning.
