Because of state laws banning car companies from selling directly to consumers, Tesla could end up shipping the cars from its Austin factory to other states, before they’re sent back to their Texan buyers. Tesla doesn’t have franchised dealers to protect, but that doesn’t matter to Texas law as it’s currently written.

But Tesla is now focused on bringing the factory, which is where it will make the Cybertruck and Model Y SUVs bound for the East Coast, to two specific places: either Austin, or Tulsa, Oklahoma. I’ve heard throughout this presentation today about what a wonderful employer they are.

Though the FTC’s jurisdiction technically doesn’t apply to nonprofits, “courts have found that merely claiming tax-exempt status as a nonprofit is not enough to place an entity outside the FTC’s jurisdiction,” Victoria Graham, an FTC spokesperson, told The NonProfit Times.
