Utah Governor Spencer Cox has signed the App Store Accountability Act into law, making it the first state to require that app store makers verify their users' ages. Meta, Snap and X have supported the measure. "We We've reached out to Apple and Google for comment now that the bill has been signed into law.

Utah has once again passed a bill that attempts to place new limits on childrens ability to access social media and other apps. Should the governor sign the bill into law, it would be (as The Verge points out ) the first such measure in the country. Even so, other states are likely to follow Utahs lead on this issue.

Google is pushing back on a bill that would make Utah the first state in the US to have a law requiring app stores to conduct age verification of their users. The National Conference of State Legislatures reports that in the last six years, 20 states have passed measures calling for a switch to year-round daylight saving time, many at the cajoling of golf industry lobbyists. The Utah Golf Association is also fighting a bill to make standard time permanent.
