Blackbaud, NTEN and Common Knowledge just released the fourth annual 2012 Nonprofit Social Networking Benchmark Report. We learned a lot of things, but one prevailing theme stood out — despite limited budgets and staffing, nonprofits continue to find great value in their fast-growing social networks.
I just returned from the Nonprofit Technology Conference (#12NTC) hosted by NTEN in San Francisco, CA. Holly and the rest of the NTEN team (including all the volunteers) did an incredible job inspiring of over 1800 people for three days. The conference was amazing!
These insights were gleaned from over 3,500 respondents to a survey sent out by Blackbaud, NTEN and Common Knowledge. In this years report we highlight twelve key social media insights for nonprofits that are intended to help the sector continue becoming more effective at using social media.

NTEN, the Nonprofit Technology Network, puts on a massive, be-there-or-be-square conference for nonprofit professionals every year (in 2009, we met in San Francisco). But, if you don’t want to wait until April to dive into the knowledge and expertise in the NTEN network, you don’t have to!
I have no inside knowledge about what the merged company will look like. On the recent NTEN community call someone asked the panel to name 5 vendors (other than Blackbaud and Convio) to whom we’d send a CRM system RFP for a $100 million nonprofit. I don’t invest in these or other companies that I advise on.
