I was lucky to have a front row seat at the beginning of the nonprofit tech field back in 1992 – when nonprofits were first exploring how the Internet could be used for activist and mission-driven work. When you are seeking information to curate, have you ever forgotten what it was in the first place you wanted to accomplish?
An earlier article posted to the NTEN blog did a great job covering data visualization generally , but what about data and places? Creating display maps – in print or as digital images – is easier than ever before, and interactive, web-based mapping is all over the place, so to speak. More specifically, what about mapped data?
So, why would you be interested in the debate about getting broadband Internet access to under-served communities? You need access to high speed Internet to participate in our society. If you care about your clients, if you care about your community, you need to care about the Internet. Who controls what is on the Internet.
I have not been blogging because I've been at the NTEN NTC Conference , the premier event for nonprofit techies taking place in San Francisco. NTEN is trying to get a handle on all of this, and find out what people use, and how much they like what they use. It’s such an interesting space, and there are some really intriguing things happening with software in that space. I can’t wait to get my grubby little fingers on the data on CiviCRM and Salesforce.
