Following the earthquake in Haiti in 2010 and the tsumani in Japan in 2011, the Ushahidi platform was used to organize emergency responses in real-time. With Ushahidi’s help, election watchers, human rights activists, international media, and foreign governments will have a much better view of developments on the ground.

Perhaps some organizations make it look simple, but behind the scenes there may be some sophisticated Esri tools that map disease outbreaks and aid distribution. Direct Relief International was involved in the Haitian earthquake in 2010 and the Japan earthquake in 2011, providing aid to thousands.
