It’s been a few days since I returned from the Nonprofit Technology Conference (#12NTC) hosted by NTEN in San Francisco, CA. Holly and the rest of the NTEN team (including all the volunteers) did an incredible job inspiring of over 1800 people for three days. Check out the slides here. Check out the slides.

Here are some of my thoughts going into the conversation and slides if you prefer engaging that way: Crowdsourcing for Social Change. Criteria is really important to consider: the crowds voting = who do you want to win this; the hosts/judges/experts voting = quality, value, innovation or alignment with competition/organizational goals.
Smaller nonprofits that might have board members from many different geographic locations have probably hosted hybrid board meetings. And, with flexplace arrangements popular pre-pandemic, nonprofits have also hosted hybrid staff meetings. For example, can you get feedback asynchronously on a proposal or concept before the meeting?

I was honored to speak at the Summer of Social Good conference hosted by Mashable , a popular social media and technology blog and a big geek favorite. I've heard Randi speak a couple of times, including this informative webinar hosted by NTEN. She also included some practical advice.

Blackbaud just finished hosting a pretty large conference for the non-profit industry. In true “Ignite” style, each presenter had five minutes to present 20 slides about their nonprofit programs, initiatives and the ways they’ve seen nonprofits from around the world use social media to make a difference. We had 2,200 attendees!
I got an email from hosts Chris Uschan and Tony Veroeven who shared some numbers, "We had 190 attend and ask 140 questions in a back channel that looked like Clark Griswald 's House at Christmas!". In the last month, NTEN staff have rested and recuperated (Jessica even traveled to China!), Side note: This is one reason we feel comfortable asking the speakers to share their slides publicly ahead of time. they’d say, or “I can’t wait to share the slides from the breakout I just attended with my team back at the office.”
Christine Schaefer of Salsa Labs told us that "the most important thing to remember about running any conference is that you are the gracious host. Gracious host = gracious guests. What is a tip for nonprofits who are hosting a conference while still managing daily affairs of their organization? Ask it often.

It was almost five years ago to the day, that I did a webinar for NTEN on the topic and have been integrating social media into teaching and learning experiences ever since. When formulating learning objectives, this is typically done in consultation with your workshop host. The Topics.
