We are at a very interesting time – with shifts happening locally and globally, governments changing, and new paradigms emerging.

Using Google Hangout, you can switch between slides and camera, although when you are in slide mode, you can’t see the remote participants. The Google Hangout was projected on the screen. We used Google Hangout because they found it was more robust for video, audio, and screen sharing in that remote location.

We’re leading up to it providing webinars and chats, but will be hosting an awards mixed reality event in February. At the end of every presentation, they put up a slide where students can either 1) join their cause on Facebook or 2) text them to sign up. Second Life and IRL at TechSoup HQ in SF. It works really well.

SalesForce, when hosting their virtual World Tour Sydney Reimagined, gave Salesforce AppExchange partners 3 minutes a piece to give a live demo of their apps. Try to host a poll or two for each virtual meeting or speaker session. This will engage the audience but also provide the speaker (and you, as host!) In fact, 81.8%

To accommodate latency issues and provide a shorter, tailored experience for virtual guests, Celebrity Waiters created two entirely separate slide decks for each audience. Hosts on both streams reminded guests frequently about upcoming silent auction closings to guarantee everyone got a fair chance to bid, and no one missed out.
