I recently got my copy of Measuring the Networked Nonprofit by Beth Kanter and Katie Delahaye Paine. One that really speaks to me is the point that “measurement helps nonprofits understand and improve their social networks.” Before I worked at NTEN, I managed the NetSquared program at TechSoup Global.
The NetSquared conference just wrapped up, and it was a lot of fun. Networking with people I know is always great, and I found the premise of this year's program different and exciting. Netsquared had picked 21 projects to run through two days of pitches concluding with voting from the attendees. I love Freecycle!
The winner will join a select group of senior leaders from some of the world’s top private, public and civil society organisations, and will get first-hand lessons in innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership from some of Bangalore and Mumbai’s leading social entrepreneurs. I spent today at day 1 of the TechSoup Global Summit in Mountain View with two hundred and forty people who work in the TechSoup Global Network around the world, plus other stakeholders. I’ve been involved with TechSoup/NetsquaredNetwork since its inception back six years ago and so it is nice to be part of the narrative arc.
Today Allison Fine and I celebrated the launch of the Networked Nonprofit at TechSoup Global in the space where Netsquared Meetups take place. Most importantly, the vision that Marnie Webb had over five years ago called Netsquared inspired me to keep blogging and explore social media and nonprofits. Small world.
