18 — CountyHealthRankings.org , a new site produced by Forum One Communications, provides the first look at the overall health of every county in all 50 states. The site was unveiled at an event on Wednesday in Washington by its sponsors, the University of Wisconsin's Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

MapLight is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization that uses data to show money's influence on politics. The organization provides tools that show campaign contributions, legislative votes, and patterns of influence. One of the sites discussed, CHNA.org. This isn't your average tech company, however.

This Webby-nominated site offers an intuitive and high-performing experience across devices, with a smooth ticketing process and user-centered design. Forum One worked with SLAC to create a Drupal site that achieved all of these goals and also won five awards this year!

Last Thursday, reported widely in the news, the Supreme Court left standing the basic provisions of the health care overhaul, ruling that the government may use its taxation powers to push people to buy health insurance. (KD Paine and I devoted an entire chapter to this topic in our forthcoming book , Measuring the Networked Nonprofit.).
