For instance, Gartner’s top 10 technologies to watch in 2008. It is nice to see that “Green IT &# tops Gartner’s list. Think big companies, lots of bucks, lots of boxes. Some nonprofits fit into this category, but most nonprofits that I work with don’t.

Every Wednesday, Gartner does a free webinar on a variety of topics. According to Gartner, the average server uses 65% of its power just sitting idle. That was the theme of a webinar I attended with the folks from Gartner called "Emergency IT Cost Cutting." Tags: budget gartner itstaff NPTech NTEN. That said, you want to make sure the cuts you make are smart, and that they set you up for success when your budget can expand again. IT is not a cost center.

Gartner also says that SaaS is a kind of Cloud computing, but it has its own definition: SaaS is an application owned, delivered and managed remotely.

Sure, the email was just a pitch for one of their upcoming events, but I can't help but think of that subject line as a battle cry – a drop-your-mobile-phone-and-pay-attention type of battle cry.
