I use Spanning Sync to keep iCal and Address Book on the laptop in sync with iCal and Address Book on the Mac (and in sync with Google Calendar and Gmail). I use DropBox to make sure I have important files with me (and to hold my 1Password keychain file s o my login passwords are automatically synced ).

When Gmail came out a few years ago, I read the raves from other NpTechers. But why can't shift from Outlook to gmail? Exported my contacts from Outlook into Gmail. I had been using Plaxo and am now need to figure out if there is a browser toolbar that works with gmail. Please don't laugh too hard. There, I've named it.

I gather that Google can sync notes and tasks, even though they don't exist in Gmail or Google's calendar. Setting up a Gmail account was incredibly simple - I just had to enter my login info and the Pre knew how to configure the account. The easiest -- and cheapest -- way to sync is through Google.

If you access your Facebook or Gmail accounts from multiple devices, SignMeOut lets you close all the open sessions, regardless of which device your accounts are opened on. Another day, another new feature of Gmail. Here's some more info from Google about how Priority Inbox works. There's a good post from OtherInbox that all you nonprofiteers might want to emulate for your Gmail users to encourage them to mark your messages as Priority. Author: Sally Heaven. The problem requires pretty much all of us to change our passwords on Google (including Gmail and YouTube), Tumblr, Yahoo, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Intuit, Dropbox, Netflix and Flickr. For more info on this, I like Laura Orsini’s plain language description on ReadWrite. They allow you to back up and restore files.
