nonprofit technology thought leader Marnie Webb created the NpTech Tag as a way for nonprofit techies to share bookmarks on del.icio.us. Marshall Kirkpatrick , who was working with Netsquared , whipped up the NpTech Metafeed which allowed folks to aggregate items tagged by nonprofit techies from many distributed sources.

Sure, I’d love to see more nonprofits move from sending their newsletters out by email, to getting them into an RSS feed, which I can choose to look at, or not. I’m hoping that will provide some very interesting things to blog about over then next few weeks, as I regain my footing. Some of Web 2.0, though is more hype than useful.

Once a community has determined its needs, however, utilizing open source software presents a more rapid, sustainable path to implementation. With open source (specifically, in this case, Drupal ), all of the functionality is available already (except for the jet-packs and sinks -- those are still in beta).

Currently, blogs are measured in systems like Technorati or ranked in PubSub by links or by number of subscribers to a feed in Feedster. Technorati Tags: blogher nptech In particular, these are the not very interesting, subtle or telling measures used to make indexes like the Technorati Top 100 or the PubSub 100 or the Feedster 100.

The NTEN's NTC and NPTech Pipe. We have the NPTech Meta Tag Feed (which aggregates about dozen feeds of NpTech tagged items and I'm still using for various reasons); Kikono.org (which uses an NpTech feed and digg like features) and now we have the two pipes from NTEN - the NTC pipe and the NpTech Pipe.
