As I ran snapping my tourist photo of the poster for my learning journal (which I keep on Flickr ), Ansible mentioned that uploading Second Life snapshots on Flickr is controversal. It will be interesting to watch how this is all resolved and how many people turn into Flickr haters. He pointed me to this Wired article.

This illustration along with the notes tool in flickr shows how the NPTech Meta Feed 2007 Version 1 - which is an aggregated feed of all sources that people tag resources with the nptech. That takes some of the duplicates out of the tag stream. I fondly refer to it as the firehose. What you loose is the original source - who tagged it.

Content Curators are doing this and more platforms will facilitate curation. The difference between content shared through social graphs is that sharing is a stream. Create categories that reflect what users are looking for. But if you want to be successful, you must curate and share relevant content. Pinterest is one of them.
