ChildFund International just rebranded from the Christian Children’s Fund last week as an effort to demonstrate a singular commitment to children’s welfare today and tomorrow (image: Faith Smiling by ChildFund, NZ ). Like Marion Conway, I was struck by this photo of him pointing to data handwritten on the walls = tracking immunization records from a rural health clinic in Ethiopia. A decade ago, there was no official record of a child’s birth or death in rural Ethiopia.

Owen is based in Ethiopia; his wife works for an NGO that builds clinics. For me the highlight of the event (though there were many highlights) was a talk given by Owen Barder of AidInfo. He spoke of his vision for a "cloud of aid information".

In the early years, we were working in China, Nepal, Cambodia, and Ethiopia, where we now purify water for over 200,000 kids daily. When we started, we were creating an internal tool for project management and quality assurance.
