Britt Bravo: In so many of the groups you profiled, the women were using the arts for education, empowerment, or healing. PG: I think that the one that comes to mind first is a wonderful picture of women in Kenya who are growing corn. Right at the end of that period, I also was teaching.

I met Van Jones about 10 years ago and he was doing criminal justice work and building the new program here, which was Police Watch, and really addressing police brutality, and we met in a Challenging White Supremacy workshop lead by Sharon Martinez back in 1995. It might be teaching. So it might be researching. It might be writing.
