When Gmail came out a few years ago, I read the raves from other NpTechers. But why can't shift from Outlook to gmail? I've had a history of getting so used to my email clients that I just can't change. Exported my contacts from Outlook into Gmail. In Outlook, I have extensive folder file system with accompanying rules.

For my email address, I added judisohn.com as a domain in Google Apps, along with all the necessary MX entries on my MediaTemple hosted domain. Now any email address to my @momathome.com email will automatically work for @judisohn.com. In Gmail, I set the new domain as my default sending address. Anyone know?

Once I did and logged in to my email, friends were writing and replying to me about the spam I was sending. It contained a link to a file that presumably downloads more malware, hosted on a compromised website. I did not email everyone on my list since that can be perceived as even more spam. I use Spanning Sync to keep iCal and Address Book on the laptop in sync with iCal and Address Book on the Mac (and in sync with Google Calendar and Gmail). I use DropBox to make sure I have important files with me (and to hold my 1Password keychain file s o my login passwords are automatically synced ).

I gather that Google can sync notes and tasks, even though they don't exist in Gmail or Google's calendar. Setting up a Gmail account was incredibly simple - I just had to enter my login info and the Pre knew how to configure the account. The Pre also gave me the choice of downloading email on a schedule or manually.
