Ten years ago there was no Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. But now over 300 million people log-in to Facebook daily, Twitter supports over 50 million tweets per day, and 2 billion videos are watched every day on YouTube.
If you haven’t noticed QR Codes yet, after you read this post and browse the QR Codes on Flickr you’re going to start to seeing them everywhere. In magazines, on flyers, tabletops, and conference materials. So, what are they? QR Codes are two-dimensional bar code images that when scanned by a camera on a smartphone open a link to a website, send a SMS, or dial a phone number.
I had a lot of fun yesterday giving a webinar for the Nonprofit Webinar series ; it was a whole hour discussing community engagement! Well, from the planning and analysis side, that is. We covered how to do Community Mapping (identifying the segments and goals of the community), Content Mapping (creating a plan for which content goes where, and why), and Data Tracking (pulling all the numbers together).

EBooks are moving into adolescence, and the question is, which format will win, or does one format have to win? For a while there, the two big players on the field were Amazon on one side, with it’s Kindle and proprietary format, which is an offshoot of MobiPocket format, and a reader that has a fairly limited range of formats it can read.

Jeremiah Owyang, an industry analyst with digital strategy consulting firm Altimeter Group , interviewed 140 enterprise-class social strategists for a report on the “ Career Path of the Corporate Social Strategist ”. It came out last November, but both Mashable and eMarketer published articles talking about different pieces of the report today so I thought I’d call your attention to what’s being discussed.
My upcoming book about social media and mobile technology will feature more than 100 tools, resources, and nonprofit service providers. I’ve had a bit of time now to work with Drupal 7. I’ve been playing with it since it was still pretty experimental, but I finally put together a whole site with it recently, and am pretty happy with it. It’s gotten a big leg up in terms of usability – this was a major focus for this release. The basic user interface is much improved over Drupal 6, and unrecognizable if you’ve only been using Drupal 5 or earlier.

Did you know that acknowledgement or “thank you” emails have the highest open rate of any email communication type. That’s right – better than your fancy newsletter and much better than your unsolicited eBlast (though people tend to make some very simple and correctable mistakes in those types of emails also). If you think about it for a second this makes total sense.

I recently came across the My Colorado Project when Jason Manke connected with me, asking for feedback and ideas about community building and online community engagement tools.
