(Click on the image to view the animation). If I was in Germany this summer, I'd go see this exhibition at Kunsthalle D??sseldorf. For now, will just have to view the animations available on the web like the Keith Haring book above. Here's an excerpt of the exhibition description : A flip book is a book that becomes a cinema for a short space of time; it is a sequence of images that reveals its narrative as you look at it, an object that you have to touch in order to get it to tell its story.

We're conducting tests of the Talking Lights technology here in Benetech's offices this week. The technology is cool and it's fun to see people playing with it. Here's what Charles LaPierre, one of our senior engineers, sent out to our team: I wanted to let you all know why there are all these new lights hanging around the office. Benetech is consulting with SenderoGroup on a project for guiding blind users indoors.
Our human rights group is active all over the place right now. Patrick Ball is in Colombia for most of the next three months teaching the techniques of human rights statistics and information processing at the National University there. Africa is definitely getting more attention from us. Kristen Cibelli is on her way to Uganda right now. Susan Bazilli, an international human rights attorney, recently brought Martus to the attention of the women's rights community in Africa, through a posting to

I am in Louisville, KY, this week, at the annual convention of the National Federation of the Blind. Other Benetech staff are here and at the Las Vegas convention of the American Council of the Blind. The highlight this week was our Bookshare.org user group meeting. We received so much positive feedback about the service: we packed the room with blind people passionate about reading.
I'm trying to get some links assembled in one place for the Berkman Thursday evening bloggers meetings where we will discuss nonprofit blogging. What does the nonprofit blogosphere look like? It???s a fairly small niche, but a vibrant and rich one -- hopefully growing.! There is no official organized nonprofit blog census, npo blogroll or a bridge blog like Global s.
Meet Susan. Her blog live blogs the Atom bomb as if it were stuck in the 1940s. She admits to being a little obsessive, but does not own Fat Man and Little Boy shot glasses. What a fantastic concept for a high school history project - does have to be about the bomb, but any point in history.
Thank you Lisa , Elisa , and Jory for your leadership, vision, and hard work for making BlogHer such incredible experience for me. Also, Miriam Verburg for that huge task of organizing the live blogging and training session that will help me with blogging technique in general. And, I know that there are many more people who volunteered their time, resources, and brainpower to make this one of the best conference I've attended.
Payroll compliance is a cornerstone of business success, yet for small and midsize businesses, it’s becoming increasingly challenging to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of federal, state, and local regulations. Mistakes can lead to costly penalties and operational disruptions, making it essential to adopt advanced solutions that ensure accuracy and efficiency.
I'm still dancing on the edges between action and reflection, but wanted to get down some of my evolving next action steps and questions for reflection. It is hard, but if I don't do it now, I'm afraid I'll loose forever. These are in no particular order! Questions. How can I improve my live blogging technique and better integrate with personal networking?
This is my stats for the week of blogher. Wow, it looks like a steep, sharp rising cliff. Web traffic rorsasch test: If it the numbers fall off as steeply as they rose after blogher, it will look like a. Now I have a big incentive to implement all the stuff on my to do list.
advanced tools Originally uploaded by image415. This photo was taken when Little Judy handed up her laptop to one of the presenters in Advanced Tools Session when there was a technical problem. Even though they gave her pieces of chocolate, it was an act of caring. I wonder if this would be one of Nancy White's indicators of a community ?
Halley Suitt Originally uploaded by jdlasica. As I was browsing the flickr stream , I found this stunning photograph of Halley Suitt of Halley's Comment by JD Lasica , a bloghim. ( His complete set of Blogher photos are awesome.). During the opening session , she made the point that women should ask for links. (Great notes by Nancy White here ) Quotable quote: " If I have any link love on the web, it came about in the following ways.

Meet Marc Canter. I'm not sure if we are related or not. Both our Kanter/Canter last names came from Russia. Marc told me that he owns the domain name canter.com which is devoted to the family history of all Canters, Kanters, Cantors, or Kantors. I learned that the Canters came from Russia but immigrated to England first, not to the US like the Kanters did.
This is Nancy White making a toast at the Saturday night dinner which was going to be nonprofit bloggers, but was a large group of everyone who wanted to eat together. There was a "birds of feather" nonprofit table and I think I photographed most of the bloggers with an interest in nonprofit blogging. Here's the incomplete blogroll that managed to get from cards collected: Marnie Webb, ext337 Alexandra Samuels Kaliyha Laura Barcella Rebecca Young Claudia Siegman Emily Reich Beverly Tra
Meet Christian Crumlish spotted in the Advanced Tools Session. He wrote a great nonprofit blog article called nonprofit blogging strategies in 2003. His update would be: nonprofits should pay attention to tags as a way to create community to share information. Blogs should solve a problem, not create them. It has to make an existing workflow easier.
I'm blogging shoes and feet this morning during breakfast. The complete set is here. The only way I got these photographs was promise not to attach a name to the photo. I did get permission from anina.net who is a fashion blogger from Paris. (The shoes are by the designer Andre). Lots of colorful flipflops with nail polish. The above are mirror images almost.

Meet Anina.net who is a fashion blogger from Paris. She live blogged me while I lived blogged her. I used a pen and reporters pad. She used her nokia phone. I must learn how to do that! She also had really cool small stickers that you could stick on your business with her url. Will photograh later. Got to steal that idea. She came to Blogher because she was invited by Six Apart and wanted to connect with blogher role models.
Ellen Spertus works for Google. She doesn't have a blog. Check out the t-shirt, you can buy at the google store. Ellen says that Google is the most female-friendly technology place she has ever worked for!
This group of bloghers was having an animated conversation in the hall after lunch. It turns out that they all read each other, but never had a chance to meet face-to-face. That was the biggest buzz in the halls at Blogher. Technorati Tags: blogher. Jade Li from Weblogs, Inc and Lynda Keeler from delight.com. The buzz? Across the nonprofit sector, organizations invest heavily in donor retention efforts, yet the struggle of cultivating lasting relationships remains. While attracting new donors is crucial, the lack of repeat donors poses significant financial risks. Through a comprehensive analysis of industry data, experts argue that there is a direct correlation between donor burnout, donor retention, and the talent retention crisis.
Ponzi interviewed me! I hope they will find a way to give nonprofits scholarships or reduced pricing to gnomedex.com. There are two conferences that I want to attend next year and gnomedex is one of them - if I can swing it. Wouldn't it be cool to co-locate or overlap for a day with Nonprofit Technology Conference which is also taking place in Seattle at approximately the same time.
The wireless network in the techmart has been completed overloaded. I have tons of interviews and great photos to post, but can't get a connection. Ah Google sponsored Kiosk is online. and hope to figure out a way around this problem.
George from Flickr Originally uploaded by cambodia4kidsorg. This is George from Flickr takaing a picture of me while I took a picture of her. I want to see that picture. She was on the Advanced Tools Panel with Marnie Webb and Alexandra Samuel. She couldn't demonstrate because the connection was down, but when she wrote stuff on the flipchart - she wrote the L I in flickr in a way that looked like: fucker.
Effectively managing cloud technology is getting more complex. From cybersecurity concerns, vendor lock-in, cost increases, or lack of transparency on costs, it can quickly get out of control. Knowing what you can control and finding a platform that’s built with nonprofits in mind is key.
