April 15, 2007 At NTC , there was a lot of talk about the “big three&# open source CMS packages that most people these days in our sector are using: Drupal , Plone , and Joomla.
NTC is coming, and I don’t have to pack! But I will be BARTing my way into SF everyday, from Saturday for Penguin Day , Sunday through Tuesday for NTC, and Wed and Thursday for CiviCRM Developer Camp. Sunday afternoon: Torn between Drupal for Good and Google APIs (somehow, there seems a lesson there.). I can’t wait!

As we do every year, Forum One participated in the annual Nonprofit Technology Conference (NTC). Since we received such great feedback from last year's session , Roger Burks and I have hosted a series of webinars since the last NTC, focusing on how organizations can leverage online storytelling and maximize social media in the process.
Marnie Webb introduced the nptech tag to help aggregate nonprofit technology content. Peter Campbell leveraged RSS to pull the tagged items into nptech. The tag points to individual resources, but is that knowledge? They also happen face to face at the NTC and other conferences. That can make it difficult to navigate.

If you use an open-source CMS, such as Drupal or WordPress, there are themes or widgets that allow you to do this without making major changes. This was especially relevant at NTC, given that this year's Pizzigati Prize for Software in the Public Interest (awarded at NTC) went to Nathan Freitas, for his work with the Guardian Project.
NTEN-Discuss , Affinity Groups and the NTC have all been places where I've met people who would later become my mentors, whose blogs keep me in the know, who gave me great project ideas, or who have provided me with services I needed to take a project to the next level. There are also Drupal conferences, NOSI conferences.
