Shell sessions are basically not doable, unless I am amazingly patient – the 4 second latency is definitely a problem in that case. YouTube ain’t bad. It even snowed a bit – and everything seems fine. But it didn’t stay good. About 5:00, the bandwidth hit the floor. It bounced back up a couple of times.

It’s definitely a thing to watch. They’ve just released a beta version (sorry, Mac only, for once) of a new platform for internet video, called DTV. This is very cool. It makes finding channels with interesting video easy, as well as making channels easy. It might indeed make vlogging a lot easier as well.

But, it isn’t as if I intend to be a pauper and live in a box or something. I intend to make a good living on open source software.

bbcon 2019 last month in Music City was the biggest and best one yet, breaking the record with over 3,000 attendees from close to 1,700 unique organizations. For instance, they often have data to demonstrate the work they are doing: children educated, animals saved, meals served, etc.

It definitely focuses a lot on the eye candy, which is nice, actually – I like that the admin interface is pretty. CMSs do share that pretty serious learning curve – but I’m getting over it, slowly. So I like Joomla. Do I like it better than Drupal? I’m not yet sure. I know, that’s silly, but it’s true.

I know a lot of the free site tools, wikis like wetpaint.com, keep trying to move to become more social, and let the audience/membership interact more – that is definitely related.
