While it is still important to market directly through Twitter, it might also be a good idea to run contests, or campaigns more focused around awareness than fundraising. Twitter for many is simply a way to stay involved in greater conversations that are happening online, engage those users with photo caption, trivia, or retweet contest.

Every dollar is tightly contested by other nonprofits whose missions are often equally as noble as your own. Blogging, or content marketing, is one of the best ways to promote traffic to your site, build relationships, and cultivate your position within whatever community you are trying to establish yourself. Start blogging.

During the past two weeks, links shared via the #nptech hashtag on Twitter have been like a Chinese buffet, a huge selection of tempting dishes that look so good you want to fill an entire plate. You can even add a good deed widget for your site. American Open Challenge is GlobalGiving's second online giving contest.
