Yesterday, I had the huge honor and pleasure to present the keynote at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits ‘ NPTech Conference, eStrategy in an iWorld. The "Quick and Dirty" Project. People seem to forget, but there are actually two ways to get great returns on your investment: you can either have fabulously successful projects, or you can have projects that took so little time to implement that any return you get is free money. Certain projects need to be done a certain way.

Let's Encrypt is a project in cooperation with the University of Michigan, the nonprofit Mozilla, and TechSoup donor partner Cisco. The project aims to clear the remaining roadblocks to transition the web from [link] to https://. They have project management tools that combine document tracking and social media elements.

You can present them with light-weight opportunities to show their support online by voting in a contest, participating in online and offline events, and taking part in volunteer and do-it-yourself actions. This feature allows nonprofits to specify the projects and outcomes that people can support when making a donation.
There’s lots of interesting NPTech news this month. In either case, both Wello and the The Hippo Water Roller Project are searching for creative ways to make these devices affordable to the people who need them now that the technology is ready. People are comparing this venture to Google’s Project Loon.
Experiment with online contests, both creating them and participating in them. Online contests like the Knight News Challenge , The Case Foundation's America's Giving Challenge , and the AmEx Cardmember Project can be resource draining to participate in, especially for a time- and cash-strapped nonprofit.
