Reflecting on the Community and the work being done in every corner of the world, we’ve tried to articulate some of the aspects that make the NetSquared Community so unique and also so powerful. This new white paper captures just a few of the stories and the qualities that make up the special place where we all come together.
Before I worked at NTEN, I managed the NetSquared program at TechSoup Global. At that time, most of NetSquared’s content came from the community blog, where anyone working at the intersection of technology and social impact could create a profile and contribute to the blog with stories, case studies, and more.
For me, the two most prominent reason to include crowdsourcing in your engagement strategies for campaigns or contests include: Crowdsourcing invites diversity by encouraging anyone with an idea or interest to participate. As my colleague Ale noted in her post a few days ago, the 2014 digital storytelling contest and event series (now called Storymakers ) has arrived! All of these events lead to the open challenge ( starting August 26 ) to submit your organization's or cause's digital story to be among the contenders for $13,000 in cash prizes and more.
We see it in the broad range of projects that responded to our NetSquared Challenges. We see it in the stories that people have shared in our S how Your Impact contests. There's also DatAgro , one of the Featured Projects from NetSquared Year 4.
We will have maps telling the stories of our impact for us (for examples of this already in use, check out google earth’s nonprofit stories). Community-sourcing is when you launch a contest or campaign to your community. You share stories of your impact so people can be inspired, they will give, and they will join you.
